"Flora" uniform is a standard forest camo which was used in post-Soviet countries armies in the late nineties and remained in use until 2010s. It was in service during the second Chechen campaign and the Ossetian war in 2008.

The BDU provides optical illusions of dissolving the silhouette both at short and at long distance, while used in the nature of Central Russia, but not very effective for mountainous terrain. Soldiers nicknamed it "watermelon".
