Description
BMP-2 is a Soviet and Russian tracked infantry fighting vehicle designed to transport personnel to the front line, increase their mobility, armament and protection on the battlefield in conditions of the use of nuclear weapons and joint actions with tanks in battle. The main difference from the BMP-1 is a larger tower and equipped with a different set of weapons. The tower accommodates two people: the squad commander (on the right) and the gunner-operator. The main armament is an automatic 30 mm 2A42 gun manufactured at the Tula machine-building plant. BMP-2 was adopted by the armed forces of the USSR in 1980 on October 15. BMP-2D used during Afghanistan War.
