Matryoshka doll is a national Russian toy, it contains 5 dolls.
The doll is cut out of Linden, birch, alder and aspen. More solid and durable softwood is not used. The best material for manufacturing of nesting dolls is a Linden. The wood is harvested in the spring, usually in April, when the wood is in juice. The tree is cleaned of bark, necessarily leaving the ring of bark on the trunk, otherwise it will crack when dried. Logs stack in a stack, leaving between them a backlash for air. The wood is aged outdoors for two years or more. Only an experienced cutter can determine the degree of readiness of the material. The Turner performs up to 15 operations with the Linden chock before it becomes a ready-made nesting doll.
